I Want To Write A Book…Any Ideas?

Haha. So I feel like writing a book today (I can be a bit random sometimes),and I have no idea how (well I know how to write…but yea). Any ideas?

So I wanted it to be the new Romeo and Juliette, even though I’ll probably never publish it :) . I wanted it to have a few main characters…so here they are…

~Amy: Light brown hair (Curly&Long),and blue eyes,15 years old, freshman :) . Hobbies are playing volleyball&guitar, singing, and acting. She wants to be a singer/actress. Posts videos of herself on Youtube (Her singing xD). Lives in Louisiana with her Dad. Her mom died in a car accident when she was 9 years old.Has a 7 year old brother (David). 70% girly. Best friend is Rachel.

~Stephen :D ark brown hair (Joe Jonas’s messy style),Dark brown eyes,16 years old,Softmore,Hobbies are playing football (quarterback) and hanging out w/ friends (idk). Has no idea what he wants to be (I haven’t really thought about it). Lives in Louisiana with his Mom&Dad. Has an 11 year old sister (Emily). 100% Guy? Haha :) . Best friend is Christopher.

Rachel:Blonde hair (Just kinda…straight),and green eyes. 15 years old,Freshman. Hobbies are Drawing,Filming Movies/Music Videos, and spending time with her family. Wants to be an Artist. Lives in Louisiana with her 2 twin sisters (Sara and Cara), Her Mom&Dad,and Her Grandma. She is a really really outgoing person and is very…random? Haha :) . Doesn’t really go into a category of "girly" or "Tomboy"…she makes her own category…Unique :) . Best friend is Amy.

I’m sorta tired…so you can make up Christopher and some other characters that you think would fit ;) . Amy and Stephen are the Romeo and Juliette people…and then the other people are just there (I haven’t seen the movie or read the book so I wouldn’t know anything about it). If your making up characters basically write some info about them like I did…and…yea.

Make a story line too. Like…what happens through the series. There will probably be about…5 books. Each with about 300 pages (Ya that’s pretty small…). Thanks to all who answer.

I’m asking you nicely…PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE no mean answers! I hate mean answers…because I get my hopes up and then it is just a stupid answer like "Who cares" or something.

So that is pretty much it…thanks ;)
BTW: I know it says "I want to write a BOOK", but I really meant "I want to write a series of books" :) . Also…I left this part out…can you give me some titles? They are love story things…and I don’t care how long they are. I like the titles for "The Clique", which are kind of long (I think), But I also like the Twilight Saga titles…which are short. I don’t want it to be all mysterious and scary like Twilight (haha), I want it to be sorta happy and nice and lovey dovey :) …so yea ;)

Oh wow. I have seen questions where people ask for plots, I have seen questions where people ask for character personalities and physical traits, and I have seen questions where people are asking for a basic storyline, but I cannot seem to recall a time where someone has so blatantly asked for all THREE.

This is not meant to be a mean answer, but simply a bit of a reality check. If you can’t come up with a plot for your story, then that’s just something you’re going to have to deal with by yourself. We can’t write your story for you, and coming up with the plot is the BIGGEST and most IMPORTANT part of a story.

Asking for plot is like asking for a written manuscript.
I know that seems harsh…but that’s the way it is. If you can’t come up with a plot right now, keep thinking of all the twists and turns. You’ll get there!

So brainstorm and try to feel out your story. I know you want to do a Romeo and Juliet thing, but you’re going to have to add a surplus of modern conflicts, so I would think on that for a while until ideas come more easily to you. Also, if you’re going to do a R&J theme, I would suggest that you READ the play! You can’t base a story off of something you have not educated yourself on.

I see that you have characters, but asking us to "make up some other characters that fit" is just not right. If you’re too tired to come up with characters at the moment, then take a nap and come back later. If you’re having trouble for a couple of days, then take a break from your writing and come back to it a few days later with a clear mind and fresh eyes.

We can’t write the storyline for you either. Asking for that is an insult to writers. I literally can’t believe you asked anyone to outline FIVE books for you. If you are writing this book, YOU SHOULD BE THE ONE TO DO THIS.

This is the advice that I can give you. I am only being honest. If you can’t come up with these things, then maybe you should reconsider writing a book. You just need to sit down and think about what it is you want to write about it. Figure out where you want your characters to end up and then come up with an interesting way for them to get there. It’s okay to ask for help. It is not okay to ask us to do the work for you.

Sorry I couldn’t give you the answer you had hoped for.

Well, if you want them to be the "New" Romeo and Juilette basically there’s something forcing them to keep apart but they still love each other in secret then eventually they die…… I take it you don’t want them to die. I would just start blahing and maybe you’ll think up your own story line.

  3. Sarah says:

I really, really hope you’re joking, but if not, I would suggest you start with READING Romeo and Juliet.
And no, no one on YA! is going to write a series of books for you, which is essentially what you’re asking.
I don’t intend to be mean, but it’s the truth.
Check out the answer of the person above me, because she is apparently wise and more patient than I am.

  4. Britney says:

No one is going to write your book for you, i’m not going to either, but i will try to help you with some things.
One thing is, if you want it to be the new romeo and juliet you should probably educate yourself on it first, or else your book isn’t going to be anything like romeo and juliet, so learn more about romeo and juliet before writing your books. But don’t copy it, its ok to use some things or base your books from romeo and juliet but use your own ideas or your going to be copying.
Another thing is, since your writing a series your books shouldn’t be completely ‘happy and nice and lovey dovey’ or else it might end up being, sorry, boring, try to have some adventure and bad things happen once in a while, because every single book that i’ve read and written have had a problem come up and/or something happen to the characters, and in romeo and juliet its not all happy either.
I’m not going to tell you how your charecters are going to be, that’s up to you as the writer to do that, if your having a hard time with it maybe just throw random things into their apperance, like black hair and green eyes, or red hair and brown eyes, blonde hair and hazel eyes, the appearance is not as important as his personality. Think about Stephan’s personality, what kind of friend would he like to have, what kind of person would he trust and hang out with? And then after you have an idea what kind of person Stephan would be friends with, use that for Christopher’s personality, and think about how they became friends, a back story about their pasts.
Before you get to writing you should plan your story out, or else it’s going to be all jumbled up and not make much sence.
Think about these 3 things, these are the things I think about before actually getting to the writing:
Setting- where will your story take place?
Charecters- who are your charecters, what do they look like, what is their past like, who is in their family, what is their personality?
Timeline of events- how will your story start, what will happen, when will it happen and how will it all come together, what is the main idea of your story?
And another thing that helps for writing, for me anyway, is freewriting. Just a few minutes, set an alarm for when you have to stop writing, like set an alarm for 10 minutes, and in those 10 minutes you have to just write, write anything that comes to your mind. And then use that to get ideas flowing.
And also, it sounds like you have an ok idea about your charecters, but plan them out, like have a background story about them and their personality.
It sounds like you have an idea about your story, but it doesn’t sound like you hve it planned out too good.
Before you start writing do 3 things:
    1. Read or watch Romeo and Juliet
    2. Plan your story out
    3. Come up with charecters and a background story for them.
Once your done writing if you think your books are really good, maybe work on them a bit and then try to get it published, the way it sounds it might have the potential(is that the right word to use, idk lol) to get published
One more thing, i can’t help you with titles because I dont have a good enough idea what its about.
Hope I helped and good luck with your books!
